Big Bear TBall Rules

SHETLAND 

PLAYING FIELDS:

  1. Pitching Distance: 38 feet (Machine Pitch)
  2. Distance between bases: 50 Feet
  3. Cones will be placed 30 feet beyond (80 feet from home plate) the bases to signify the outfield fence.

EQUIPMENT:

  1. No metal cleats are allowed.

PITCHING: 

  1. Pitching Machine ONLY. (Recommended settings for the machine:  Power Lever = 2:  Micro Adjust = 3:  Release Block = 4).  Settings may be adjusted by the Coaches to achieve a good strike pitch.

BATTERS:

  1. Are not permitted to bunt. (Penalty: The batter shall be called back to the plate, the swing is a foul-strike, the ball is dead and no runners may advance).  Ball needs to travel at least 8 feet from home plate in fair territory to be a hit.
  2. The batter shall receive 4 pitches (if needed) from the pitching machine, if the batter does not get a hit then batter shall receive 2 swings using a tee.

PLAYING RULES:

  1. Game length shall be as many complete innings that can be played in the 1 hour 15 minute time limit. (No new inning shall start after 1 hour)
  2. Players can be thrown/tagged out and have to return to their dugout, but outs will not be counted and all players present will bat each inning.  Once all players have batted that inning is over.
  3. On a batted ball runners may advance until an infielder has control of the ball in the infield or at a base and holds the ball up. Once the ball becomes dead and in the judgment of the umpire/coaches the runner has not gone entirely beyond the halfway point between the bases, the runner will be required to return to the base in which they are coming from.
  4. The Catcher needs to be in catchers gear helmet/mask, chest protection, (knee/shim guards, cup/groin protection recommended but not required).  (The catcher can take up a standing position to the side if desired.)  Player can use a standard glove (no catcher's glove is required).
MINI

PLAYING FIELDS:

  1. Distance between bases: 40 feet
  2. Cones will be placed 20 feet beyond (60 feet from home plate) the bases to signify the outfield fence.  If the ball is hit beyond the cones the hit is a double, all other hits are singles.

EQUIPMENT:

  1. No metal cleats are allowed.

BATTERS:

  1. Batters will have 5 attempts to hit the ball off the tee.

PLAYING RULES:

  1. Game length shall be as many complete innings that can be played in the 1 hour time limit.
  2. Defense:  Players should attempt to throw/tag runners out
  3. Offense:  If thrown/tagged out players will remain on base
  4. All players present will bat.  The inning is over once all players have batted
